Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) – New Entry Rules for Thailand 2025

From May 1, 2025, Thailand introduced a new entry requirement – and while it’s a small change, it’s important to get right before you travel.

The Thai authorities have launched a digital system called the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC), which must be completed before entering the country.

If you’re arriving in Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai or anywhere else in Thailand, here’s exactly what you need to know – especially if you’ve already booked your private airport transfer.

What is the Thailand Digital Arrival Card?

The TDAC replaces the old paper arrival card you used to fill out on the plane.

It’s now fully digital – and mandatory for all travelers, regardless of how you enter Thailand:

  • Arriving by air (Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai, etc.)
  • Crossing a land border
  • Arriving by sea

Most travelers complete this before landing in Bangkok – often combined with a pre-booked Hua Hin private transfer to reach their hotel comfortably.

When and How to Complete TDAC

You can complete the TDAC from 72 hours (3 days) before arrival – not earlier.

Registration must currently be done online via the official system.

Before you start, make sure you have the following ready:

  • Your passport
  • Flight details (arrival and departure)
  • Your hotel or accommodation address in Thailand

If you’re heading to the islands or beach destinations, many travelers pre-book routes like Koh Chang private transfers or Khao Lak private transfers in advance.

The TDAC is completely free.

What Happens on Arrival?

When you arrive in Thailand and pass through immigration, you’ll need to show your TDAC confirmation.

  • Save it offline on your phone
  • Or bring a printed copy

Once you’re through immigration and baggage claim, your driver will be waiting at the agreed meeting point.

💡 Tip: Delays at immigration are normal – all our drivers track your flight and wait accordingly.

If you’re exploring Northern Thailand, you can also arrange scenic routes like Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai private transfers with optional sightseeing stops.

Important: TDAC is NOT a Visa

The TDAC is not a visa – it’s simply a digital arrival registration.

You still need to meet standard entry requirements:

  • Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months
  • Most European travelers receive visa exemption on arrival
  • Longer stays require a visa arranged in advance

If you forget to complete the TDAC, you risk delays – or in worst cases, being denied entry.

Why Thailand Introduced TDAC

  • Faster immigration processing
  • Improved security and data handling
  • Better health monitoring systems

In short – less paperwork, smoother arrivals.

Arriving in Thailand – What to Expect

After landing, your arrival process will typically look like this:

  • Immigration (show passport + TDAC)
  • Baggage claim
  • Meet your driver at the exit
  • Start your private transfer to hotel or destination

We always provide clear meeting instructions – so you know exactly where to go.
